Random Little Things

Just a warning before reading this, these are just some things my kids have done that I don't want to forget. It is a little random. I couldn't really make it flow from one thought to the next. Also farting is mentioned. You have been warned.
I am loving staying home with my kids and I am reminded of that each time my kids say something that just makes me smile (if not laugh a little too). I love listening to them when they think I'm not listening. They can be so animated and imaginative. They can also say just random off the wall things. For instance, yesterday I was driving in the car with my youngest 2 in the back seat. My 3 year old, Sam, talking to his sister, Ashley, says something about farting. That leads into him saying he's going to fart in his dad's face, which leads to him wrestling with dad and spanking dad's butt. That is a big tease threat in my house.
My youngest didn't really have anything he was attached to as a baby until he was probably about 2 years old. Then he became attached to a blanket. This blanket was one that I had made for my nephew about 6 years before that. This blanket was carried everywhere with my son. It was a must. Since it was still a necessity when he turned 3 we took him to the store to pick out some material to make a new one. The old one was worn and holey. He picked some out with Cars characters on it. We went right home and I made the blanket to match the old one. For the first week he carried around both. After that it was right back to the old one again. A few months ago, he discovered a backpack. The best part of this backpack? His blanket could fit right inside, along with other things like all the cars he has decided he needs to take with him too. It has just been the last month that the backpack has been replaced (for now). It has been replaced by a dog backpack/harness leash. Because we don't use the leash (although some times we should) we take it off so he doesn't just drag it around. Most days he wears this dog around constantly. Of course it has a small pocket on the back to stick cars in too. We recently had family pictures done and he started sobbing as soon as we shut the door to the car with puppy locked inside. Needless to say the photographer had to hold puppy the entire time she took pictures. At least there has been progress in all this. For the moment there is no more need for blanky. Now if we could have that same progress with his older sister and her blanky.
Along with the "need" for the puppy backpack my youngest has also decided that he can only wear pants with pockets. This doesn't make much sense because most days he doesn't put a single thing in them all day. Yet he still refuses to wear pants without pockets.
All of our kids have piggy banks. They look like pigs hence the piggy name. Of course, my daughter calls them penny banks. I guess that makes some sense too though because they have pennies in them too.
She also calls Pokemon "Pokebon" and will sing the theme song using her word.
About a month after we got our new car, my oldest was saying how he hated the new car. I told him he better not, it would probably be the car he gets when he starts to drive. He then said he didn't want this car, instead he wants a van. I almost dreaded asking him why, thinking of the reasons a teen would want a van and thinking how this kid was only 8, how does he know about those things?! I asked him why anyway and was surprised with the answer. He wanted a van so all his friends could fit, because our car only fits 5 and a van fits 7! I laughed and said we'd have to see.
I find it funny that kids can come up with interesting ways of saying things. My oldest has always pronounced syrup as "seer-e-up". I was afraid that one day he would say it like most everybody else and I would forget how he said it as a kid. You can imagine my happiness when my youngest now calls it that as well. It looks like that word will go on for a bit longer in this house.
